The Best Robot Hoover
The most effective robot hoover will mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detectors) are a plus.
Be sure to check your robot's brushes for hair that is tangled and large particles, and wash them when required. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other top iRobot models (including the top pick) they utilize smart mapping technology to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it sees an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.
However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used when you're at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. Going Here learns the layout of your home over time to offer cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a good cleaning job on a variety of floors and rooms with different flooring types including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky units of the rivals. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. best automatic vacuum cleaner comes with a simple mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and look better. If you're willing with a bit more noise and a little more cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.
The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on the amount of dirt they tend to be.
If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Also, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has a reciprocating motion that is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to organize an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app also grants access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It features an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
